Community Volunteer Corps

Working to Keep Chicago Families Healthy

Lurie Children’s Community Volunteer Corps (CVC) is a fun, flexible way for volunteers to share important public health messages with Chicago families. Each summer, volunteers can choose from around 5-10 different festivals and events in neighborhoods across the city - leading interactive games and sharing health education materials with community members.

At our most recent CVC events, over 5,000 kids stopped by our tents and tables and had fun learning about vital health and safety topics.

CVC members must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age or older
  • Complete a phone screening
  • Attend a virtual kick-off meeting (two date options)
  • Be capable of standing for extended periods of time
  • Be able to lift and move light to medium weight items
  • Maintain a professional demeanor at all times
  • Commit to at least two community events over the summer
  • Enjoy interaction with children, teens and adults

The application to join the 2026 Community Volunteer Corps is now closed. Thank you for your interest.
