This program was implemented in 2013 as a partnership between the Chronic Illness Transition Team and Lurie Children's Workforce Development. The SAILS Workforce Development Program places young adults in a six-week paid internship program, along with a one-week training prior to starting.
Participants will be assigned to various departments and units where they will work and receive compensation for their participation while in the program. The participants are selected by the Chronic Illness Transition Team in collaboration with the various divisions within the hospital as needed. The SAILS Workforce Development Program will introduce participants to career opportunities available in the healthcare industry in general and at Lurie Children’s in particular.
