Depending on income and disability, some teens may be eligible for adult government benefits, such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). Some individuals may also qualify for UIC- Specialized Care up until age 21, which assists families with children with special needs. Through Our Chicago Medical-Legal Partnership, medical teams can provide referrals surrounding guardianship, SSI denials, insurance access and other transition related issues.
