The ThriveGI Integrative Health Program provides care for pediatric patients with underlying gastrointestinal disorders. By bringing together evidence-based conventional and complementary approaches for care in a coordinated way, providers place emphasis on the person as a whole, considering mind, body, and spirit, and their interplay in health and disease.
Why Choose Lurie Children's?
ThriveGI is unique in that it is one of only a few GI-focused pediatric integrative health programs in the country. The program utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to create care plans that are individualized for each child’s needs and are respectful of family values. Recommendations may include mainstream medical testing and therapies as well as complementary approaches to care such as hypnotherapy, guided imagery, acupuncture, aromatherapy, meditation, and yoga.
Conditions We Treat
We see patients with underlying GI issues including the following conditions:
- Irritable bowel syndrome
- Abdominal pain
- Dyspepsia
- Nausea
- Gastroesophageal reflux
- Inflammatory bowel disease
For patients already followed by a GI physician, the ThriveGI program can provide advice on complementary practices that supplement your child’s existing care plan.

The initial appointment includes a 90-minute visit with Dr. Prozialeck and 30-minute visit with Dr. Potthoff. All aspects of a patient’s health will be reviewed as depicted in our ThriveGI Tree.
The goal of the first visit is to develop an Integrative Care Plan that meets the patient’s and family’s goals and individual needs. These plans can evolve over time in follow-up appointments where patients spend 60 minutes with Dr. Prozialeck and 30 minutes with Dr. Potthoff.
