Telemedicine Services for Providers & Partners

We partner with our providers and community partners to offer excellent service. Lurie Children’s Care Connect combines its expertise and programming capabilities with the world-class clinical care of Lurie Children’s to provide the best in telemedicine care, regardless of how complex a child’s medical needs are and no matter where a child lives.

The Lurie Children’s Telehealth Program started providing services more than ten years ago; starting first with Cardiology and expanding to Radiology approximately two years later. In 2014, Lurie Children’s launched real-time teleconsultations using a HIPAA-compliant video conferencing platform.
 
We offer a variety of telemedicine programs and direct-to-patient telemedicine visits at more than 25 facilities, critical access hospitals, and outpatient clinics in Illinois and at our partner institution Henan Children’s Hospital in Zhengzhou, China.

Types of Services

Tailored to fit the needs of each medical specialty, our telehealth programs utilize a mix of the latest healthcare technology advances to provide:

  • Live video telehealth consultations for providers: We provide both inpatient and outpatient consultations via live videoconferencing for specialties such as Emergency Medicine, Neurocritical Care, Infectious Disease, Psychiatry, Otolaryngology, and many more.
  • Scheduled specialty clinic appointments for patients: We provide opportunities for care by a Lurie Children’s specialist over live videoconferencing during designated clinic time each week. Virtual clinics provide follow-up care for current patients or to meet the needs patients living in underserved areas.
  • On-demand medical image review and interpretation: For both emergent and non-emergent patients, our pediatric specialists are available 24/7 to review, interpret, and consult on medical images like x-rays, CT scans, MRIs, and echocardiograms.
  • Remote patient management: We extend our care into patients’ homes using a combination of remote data reporting and live video conferencing technologies to track a patient vital signs, trends, and development. Learn more.
