Pediatric Organ Transplant Volumes & Outcomes

The Siragusa Transplantation Center at Lurie Children’s consistently ranks among the top pediatric transplant centers in the nation on an annual basis, both in volumes and outcomes. The center performed 76 solid organ transplants in 2021, including 30 heart transplants, 11 liver transplants, 33 kidney transplants, and 2 intestinal transplant, making it the leading pediatric transplant center for volume in Illinois, and the only pediatric heart transplant program.

Our programs remain focused on enhancing the care and outcomes of all patients, providing care to the smallest infants through adolescence and adulthood. The graph below represents the number of transplants performed on all patients by age from January 1988, when the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) began tracking the data, through December 31, 2021.
