Stem Cell Transplant Resources

At Lurie Children’s, we are committed to making sure our patients and their families receive mental, emotional and spiritual support. Stem cell transplant patients and their families have access to support services and internal resources:

  • The Family Services team addresses the needs of the whole family for the best possible patient experience. Team members include child life specialistssocial workersart therapists, and chaplains.
  • The Division of Hematology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplant has a staff neuropsychologist to support mental health.
  • We offer survivor services with the Survivors Taking Action and Responsibility (STAR) Program. The program provides risk-based care using national and international survivorship guidelines for childhood cancer and stem cell transplant survivors.
  • The Palliative Care Program assists families and their children with pain and symptom management, care coordination, and help in making decisions about treatment options.
