Scoliosis

Sever Disease (Calcaneal Apophysitis)

A painful irritation and inflammation of the growth plate at the back of the heel bone, where the Achilles tendon connects.

Shoulder Instability

When the structures of the shoulder don’t hold the bones together tightly, allowing the humerus to partially slide out of its socket or come all the way out of its socket.

Sinding-Larsen-Johansson Syndrome

Irritation and inflammation of the growth plate at the bottom of the kneecap, where the patella tendon inserts.

Skier's or Gamekeeper's Thumb

An injury to the ulnar collateral ligament, which links the metacarpal bone at the base of the thumb with the middle thumb bone.

Spinal Disc Herniation

When some of the gel inside the disc has leaked from its outer covering, leading to irritation and possibly compression of the spinal cord itself.

Spondylolysis & Spondylolisthesis

Defects and resulting dislocations in the bones that make up the spinal column, typically causing pain and muscle spasms.

Stinger or Burner Injury

Two terms for the same condition, a stretching or pinching of one or more of the nerves branching off the spinal cord, causing tingling/numbness in arms and fingers.

Tarsal Coalition

An abnormal connection present between two of the bones of the foot near the ankle, leading to limited motion and pain in the foot.

Tennis Elbow

Also called lateral epicondylitis, an overuse injury to the tendons that originate at the outside of the elbow.

Thigh Contusion

Also called a muscle bruise, an injury to the soft tissue (muscle fibers, connective tissue and/or blood vessels and nerves) of the upper leg.

Thoracic Outlet Syndrome

A group of symptoms produced by pressure on the nerves and/or blood vessels as they pass through the space between the base of the neck and the armpit.
