The Department of Speech-Language Pathology at Lurie Children’s offers comprehensive and individualized care to children and adolescents with communication and feeding-swallowing disorders. As one of the Midwest’s major referral centers, we care for children with a variety of pediatric speech, language and feeding-swallowing disorders.
We believe in family-centered care, which means we involve the whole family in a patient’s treatment plan. From bringing family members into care plan meetings, to providing support and distraction to a patient’s siblings, we do our best to help fit our care within your lifestyle. The Lurie Children's Difference
We recruit the most highly qualified pediatric speech-language pathologists. Each clinician is certified by the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and maintains the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC). Many of our clinicians also maintain affiliation and membership with other professional groups or hold specialty certifications.
Our speech-language pathologists complete intensive competency training in specific areas to continue to develop their high levels of expertise. In addition to patient care, our team members actively participate in research, mentorship, education and community outreach.
Our specialty teams are comprised of speech-language pathologists who have completed intensive competency training and use the latest evaluation and treatment techniques supported by scientific literature.
