Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Services

Children are referred to our programs for a wide variety of concerns, including anxiety disorders, psychoses, behavior problems, school problems, affective disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, developmental delay, intellectual disabilities and a range of adjustment problems.

Each year, our specialists provide mental health evaluation and care in more than 22,000 outpatient visits, 490 inpatient psychiatric admissions, 254 children served in the Partial Hospitalization Program, and 500 consultations each in the emergency department and the hospital inpatient pediatric and surgical services.

Partial Hospitalization Program

Lurie Children's Partial Hospitalization Program is an intensive, five-day treatment program serving children ages 10-14 requiring more intense treatment for psychiatric problems but can be safely maintained at home.

TARGET Program

TARGET is a group treatment program within the Department of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry that helps kids, adolescents and teens get connected to mental health treatment more quickly than if they were to wait for treatment with an individual provider.

Treatment Groups for Children with Mental Health Conditions

Lurie Children's has developed group settings to help children work through issues together, such as disruptive disorders, healthy decisions, sleep disturbances, and social skills.
