SmartSoc Scanner

The Orthotics and Prosthetics Department uses a sophisticated portable scanning technology called SmartSoc to digitally acquire head shape. This portable handheld device is a specially configured camera phone to capture the precise body contours needed to create custom cranial remolding helmets. This technology allows for quick accurate capturing and eliminates the need for messy casting sessions for many patients. These images are then saved in our database so they can later be used to gauge patients’ progress over time.
