COVID-19 Testing

Lurie Children’s Immediate Care offers:

  • PCR testing (following a physician evaluation), which is the most accurate method of COVID-19 testing available
  • A safe environment and testing experience, with rigorous infection control measures in place
  • Efficient, convenient reporting of test results through Lurie Children’s MyChart. Your child’s test results are sent to your MyChart inbox typically within 24 hours

We offer evaluations for COVID-19 with our pediatricians for any children with symptoms of COVID-19, including:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain
  • Diarrhea

Rapid Flu Testing

Both Lurie Children's Immediate Care locations offer rapid flu testing, providing families with quicker and more accurate results. Benefits of rapid flu testing include:

  • Minimally-invasive for patients – only requires a quick cotton swab of the nose
  • Quick test results (typically around 15 minutes)
  • Fast and accurate results which allow the physician and family to make well-informed decisions about anti-viral medications, when appropriate, and help to avoid potential medications that would not be helpful for the flu
