Evaluating the Impact of Diabetes Camp Research Study
Our research team at Lurie Children’s Hospital is currently recruiting participants (youth and their caregivers) for a research study about attending overnight diabetes camp.
Our Goal
We want to understand how attending diabetes camp impacts youth and caregivers.
Who Can Sign Up?
We are recruiting two groups of youth with type 1 diabetes (ages 8-17 years) and caregivers to participate:
- Youth who are attending an overnight ADA diabetes camp this summer and a primary caregiver.
- Youth who have never attended an overnight diabetes camp and are not attending an overnight diabetes camp this summer and a primary caregiver.
What is Involved?
After completing a consent form and demographics form, you and your caregiver will be sent online surveys four times: (1) Before diabetes camp starts [beginning of summer], (2) After camp ends [end of summer], (3) 6 months after camp ends, (4) 12 months after camp ends. Surveys will take about 20 minutes to complete.
If you use a CGM, we would also ask your permission to download 14 days of CGM data at each of those four times.
Will I Be Compensated?
You and your caregiver will each be paid up to $85 with e-gift cards to a vendor of your choice (e.g., Amazon, Starbucks). A portion of that amount will be sent to you after each survey is completed.
