kidSTAR

The kidSTAR Medical Education Program enhances patient safety and promotes excellent clinical care delivery through rich experiential learning that empowers individuals and multidisciplinary teams.

We provide a flexible learning environment for health professionals to practice key clinical skills, develop high-quality teamwork and communication skills in a psychologically safe environment. We bring years of experience to the process of creating immersive learning experiences, both in our simulation laboratory and the clinical setting.

We develop and implement simulation curricula that focus on interprofessional teamwork and the development of effective and collaborative communication skills. Our learners span a broad range of clinical disciplines including undergraduate, graduate and faculty physicians, nurses and advance practice providers, ancillary staff, security, social work and pastoral care staff. We provide services at Lurie Children’s, our outreach program hospitals and affiliated clinics.

Our faculty have national reach, serving on a variety of simulation societies at leadership levels and are highly successful in dissemination of our work in peer-reviewed journals.
