Lurie Children's Little Ones App
The Lurie Children's Little Ones app was developed by Maggie Pucker, LCSW, MS, and Miller Shivers, PhD, experts within the Lurie Little Ones Program and The Pritzker Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Lurie Children's. The team has more than 20 years of experience providing education, assessment and intervention to families with toddlers and preschoolers who present challenges.
This information is not intended to be a substitute for a thorough evaluation or treatment plan with a mental health provider.
Intended Users
Little Children's Little Ones is intended for parents, grandparents, teachers, daycare providers, sitters or any other adult who interacts with toddlers and preschoolers on a regular basis.
Benefits
The information in the app is based on years of clinical experience as well as evidence-based best practices with young children. In one convenient place, parents and other adults will learn about various topics and issues of concern in young children, their possible origins and ways to intervene to improve behavior.
Topics Covered
Adults will learn foundational and general strategies to use with all young children and will also learn how to manage their own stressors as they navigate difficulty in their young child.
The app also provides broad descriptions of the more common early childhood diagnoses and concerns under “Categories” with more specific information under “Courses” and ways to manage the issue under “Lessons.” Anxiety, disruptive behavior and hyperactivity are among the early childhood diagnoses covered.
How to Access the App
The Lurie Children's Little Ones app is accessible via the Apple App Store and can be found by searching any of the following keywords: "toddler", "preschooler", "tantrum", "early childhood", "parenting", "setting limits".
