Lead Evaluation Program
Lurie Children’s acknowledges that lead poisoning continues to be a common environmental disease of young children and has developed a lead evaluation program designed to detect and care for children with lead exposure.
Services provided in this program include comprehensive care for children with elevated blood lead levels include:
- Identification of lead sources
- Education on lead poisoning prevention
- Environmental case management coordination with public health departments
- Use of medications to reduce the levels of lead in the body (when indicated)
