Center for Cardiovascular Innovation: Quality Improvement & Data Management
The CCI provides critical infrastructure, resources, and expertise to support the Heart Center’s commitment to optimal cardiovascular care for our patients and families. One of the many resources the CCI provides is expertly trained staff to drive our various quality improvement initiatives. Additionally, the CCI provides all critical data to monitor outcomes and progress. Some of the data the CCI amasses is shared with various national and international registries which are also committed to providing the best possible cardiovascular care for children.
- All our Quality Improvement initiatives are in alignment with the hospital’s priorities and follow guidelines set forth by Lurie Children’s Center for Quality & Safety, to be clinically safe, effective, patient- and family-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable.

Our Registeries in Action
- Our registeries have recently generated many academic and public-facing products:
- We have published peer-reviewed papers using data from the PC4 (paper example 1), (2), & (3); PAC3 (paper example 1); NPC-QIC (paper example 1); FON (paper example 1); and PHTS (paper example 1) registries, among others.
- These registries have also created multiple helpful products for patients and their families, such as NPC-QIC’s Single Ventricle Guide for Parents, FON’s Active Living with Fontan Circulation Toolkit, PAC3’s Chest Tube Change Packet, and PHTS’ Pediatric Heart Transplant Guidebook.
- Due to the quantitative expertise and tireless efforts of many CCI personnel, we are able to track important data metrics and outcomes, which can be found on our Volumes & Outcomes webpage.
