Center for Cardiovascular Innovation: Academic Services

The Academic Services section of the Center for Cardiovascular Innovation (CCI) exists to nurture the next generation of pediatric cardiologists, surgeons, anesthesiologists, imaging specialists, statisticians, and clinical research professionals. Our comprehensive academic services are designed to provide Heart Center members with the tools they need to excel. From scholarly oversight to professionalism workshops, journal clubs, and professor rounds, we offer a supportive environment for growth and development.

Members of the Heart Center benefit from a diverse range of research mentors who specialize in a variety of domains, such as non-invasive imaging, quality improvement, education, heart failure, preventive cardiology, genetics, arrhythmias, and more.

Our commitment to fostering innovative clinical and translational science is reflected in our support for every stage of the research process. Services include project initiation, grant development, data management/analysis, and authorship. These services are tailored to empower Heart Center members to perform their best work.

For years, Heart Center members have been nationally recognized and center stage at national and international conferences, showcasing their research and clinical expertise through both oral and poster presentations. They have presented at prestigious meetings such as the American Heart Association, International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation, American Society of Echocardiography, American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American College of Cardiology. These opportunities allow Heart Center members and trainees to engage with leading experts in the field, exchange ideas, and remain at the forefront of pediatric medicine.

The CCI’s Academic Services plays a pivotal role in supporting the graduate medical education programs within the Heart Center, which encompasses pediatric cardiology, congenital cardiac surgery, cardiac anesthesia, and more. Our pediatric cardiology and congenital cardiac surgery programs have a strong track record of training fellows who go on to make significant contributions to their fields of medicine.
