Fanconi anemia is a bone-marrow-failure disorder that has effects throughout the body.
It sometimes causes physical deformities, such as skin discoloration, skeletal malformations and brain and spinal cord abnormalities. Fanconi anemia may also cause defects in organs, such as the kidneys, GI tract and heart
People with this condition also have an increased tendency toward certain blood cancers, such as leukemia, and tumors throughout the body.
