Atypical Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome

Atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome, or aHUS, is an extremely rare disease that affects the kidneys, causing clots in the blood vessels in the kidneys. These clots can restrict blood flow in the kidneys causing kidney damage, loss of platelets in the blood, anemia, jaundice and, ultimately, kidney failure.
