Advanced General Pediatrics: Advocacy
Advocating on behalf of children and pediatricians is a priority for faculty and staff in the division.
Faculty in the division:
- Advocate on child health issues at the community, state, and federal level.
- Work with community partners to address a variety of child health issues through our Physician Advocacy Board, the Patrick M. Magoon Institute for Healthy Communities, the Lurie Children’s Government Relations department, the Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and nationally through the AAP.
- Work with the media to create broader awareness and understanding of child health issues impacting children and their families.
- Educate and provide mentorship to medical students, fellows, residents physicians, and other healthcare professionals in training through various advocacy opportunities such as the Community Medicine and Advocacy (CMA) rotation and Advocacy/Population Health Certificate Program.
