Child Passenger Safety Classes
For Parents and Caregivers: This one-hour class will help parents and caregivers select the proper child safety seat for their child. Parents will also learn the basics of proper seat installation and fit.
For Child or Healthcare Professionals: This eight-hour class is for professionals who work with child safety seats on a regular basis. This class also serves a good introduction to child passenger safety for someone who might be interested in becoming a child passenger safety technician.
Home Safety Classes
General Class: Learn the basics of keeping young children safe in your home. Topics include window falls prevention, poison prevention, fire safety and more.
Poison Prevention: As an Urban Pediatric Satellite of the Illinois Poison Center, we have a group of poison prevention educators who can educate a wide variety of ages and interest levels about the importance of poison prevention. Most classes are one-hour long.
Pedestrian & Bicycle Safety Classes
Learn the basics of how to keep yourself and your children safe while walking and riding your bicycles. This 1-hour class covers basic rules of the road and proper bicycle helmet fitting. Program in a Box
Bring programs and trainings to your community with Program in a Box. The boxes are filled with games, brochures, curricula, videos/DVD’s and many activities to teach children and adults about injury prevention topics. Each Program in a Box is available for check-out from the Injury Prevention and Research Center office.
