Serving Children Insured by Medicaid

We play a key role in partnership with the State of Illinois in providing exceptional pediatric care to Illinois children insured by Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). These programs provide affordable coverage to children in lower-income families and to kids with special health care needs. This federal-state partnership is the largest source of children's health care coverage in the U.S. Most of our nation's sickest children get coverage through Medicaid. Although there is room for improvement, continued investment in Medicaid is critical to children's health and our nation's future.

Kids Rely on Medicaid

While Lurie Children’s understands how important the Medicaid program is to ensuring care for our most vulnerable kids, we wanted to hear directly from Illinois parents, so Lurie Children’s Voices of Child Health conducted a statewide survey of Illinois residents. Based on the data, it’s clear parents share our views – 91% said Medicaid is important to ensure healthcare access for low-income children.
