Serving the Community
Patrick M. Magoon Institute for Healthy Communities
The Magoon Institute at Lurie Children's is going beyond the walls of our hospital to advance health equity for youth and their families. Through authentic community partnerships, we are working to improve the health and well-being of all children and adolescents across Chicago.
Advocacy is a core component of Lurie Children's mission. Prevention is the best medicine we can offer children. Community health promotion enhances children's environments in homes and in neighborhoods to keep them safe and strong. Public policy improves the quality of life for all children in Illinois. Supporting medical leadership and training in child advocacy strengthens child health outcomes in homes and communities.
Our hospital has a long history of partnering with community leaders to support our mission in a manner that respects the quality of life of our neighbors. Learn more about our activity in the local community.
Lurie Children's has always valued the open dialogue with leaders in Chicago, Springfield and Washington, D.C. We're working with the government to better children's health and well-being in numerous ways.
We are the State of Illinois' principal partner in providing exceptional pediatric specialty care to Illinois' most fragile children. These sick and injured children and their families rely upon the Medicaid program because they lack the financial resources to pay for medical treatment.
