Award Opportunities

The Manne Research Institute Training Program encourages and supports graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and clinical fellows to excel in the field of research and participate in research-related conferences by bestowing The Children’s Research Fund Outstanding Graduate Student Award and the Manne Research Institute Travel Award. 

Travel Awards

Travel Awards are given to graduate students, postdoctoral associates, clinical/research fellows and lab staff who are conducting research in research institute laboratories to present their scientific progress at national and international meetings and conferences. The awards are granted on a peer-reviewed, competitive basis four times a year.

Travel Award Application 

The Travel Award is $500 and the Excellence Travel Award is $1,000. A separate application for the Research Excellence Award is not necessary. Recipients will be those with the most competitive applications as judged by the Travel Award Committee.

2021 Mary J.C. Hendrix Outstanding Graduate Student Award

Stanley Manne Children’s Research Institute and Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital are pleased to announce the 2021 Mary J.C. Hendrix Outstanding Graduate Student Award to recognize a graduate student of exceptional distinction.  We are seeking nominations from the mentors of the graduate students in training at our Manne Research Institute research facilities.  Each mentor is allowed only one (1) nomination and students may not receive the award two years in a row. The recipient will receive a $5,000 prize to be used at the student’s discretion to further their research project, this includes lab reagents, computers, and attendance at conferences.

2021 Robert Louis Katz Summer Scholars Program

We are looking for Research Mentors and potential summer students for the Stanley Manne Children’s Research Institute and Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital 2021 Robert Louis Katz Summer Scholars Program. The program is designed to provide undergraduates’ summer experiences in research related to childhood health and disease. Through the ongoing generosity of Jim and Ellyn Katz, we are offering competitive scholarships for the summer of 2021 for research experiences with Manne Research Institute investigators at the downtown Lurie Children's campus.

Scholars will receive a $3,500 stipend in their respective mentor’s research program and are expected to spend at least 8 weeks between June and August 2021 working full time with their respective mentors.
