Omar Shennib obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology (with Chemistry minor) from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). He also has a certificate in Microbiology, UIUC, with Research Distinction.
Mr. Shennib is currently a Research Technician within ACT-GeM and aims to support the development of zebrafish assays of human genetic disease through gene editing, DNA and RNA extraction, sequencing, gene expression studies, and microscopy. He became fascinated with genetic phenomena as an undergraduate researcher who studied behavioral genetics in silver foxes and hopes to translate his knowledge in genetics to improve diagnostics and health outcomes in humans.
