Social Media Policy for Visitors
Introduction
Welcome to the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago ("Hospital") Social Media Policy for Visitors (“Policy”). Lurie Children's has developed social media websites with the goal of providing places to share experiences, information and comments. We welcome discussion and encourage participation across all of our social media channels (including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, Google+, and Tumblr). In order to serve this goal, Lurie Children's developed the following Lurie Children's Social Media Policy for Visitors.this Policy which describes the terms and conditions on which the Hospital and its Corporate Affiliates listed below (collectively, “Lurie Children’s”, “we”, “us” or “our”) operates its social media websites.
Consent
By accessing and/or using Lurie Children's social media channels, you agree that your use of such social media channels is subject to your agreement with policy statements described in the Lurie Children's Social Media Policy for Visitors below. You agree that you will not violate any local, state, federal or international laws in using Lurie Children's social media channels. If you violate the policy, Lurie Children's reserves the right to prohibit, restrict or discontinue your access to certain social media channels. Lurie Children's also reserves the right to temporarily or permanently discontinue any media channel or any functionality at any time and without notice.

Lurie Children's makes reasonable efforts to monitor participation across all social media channels to ensure that content stays on topic and that participants are courteous.
Opinions and/or views expressed by participants on Lurie Children's social media channels represent the beliefs and opinions of individual posters, and not necessarily of Lurie Children's or any of its affiliates or their officers, employees, research staff, medical staff or members of its board of directors. Lurie Children's does not endorse or guarantee any materials linked within its social media pages.
Medical Disclaimer: Information posted on Lurie Children's social media channels is for educational or informational purposes only and is not intended to substitute in any way for medical treatment, advice or diagnosis by a healthcare professional. Terms of Use: Do not post or submit any information you consider confidential or private, such as your child's medical record number, insurance information, date of birth, or other identifying information. By submitting content to any Lurie Children's social media pages (including photos, tweets and posts), you acknowledge that this information is publicly available, and that Lurie Children's may use this information in internal and public communications. Lurie Children's cannot be responsible for use and/or disclosure by others of publicly posted information. If you do not wish to have your information shared beyond our social media pages, please do not post the information.
Participants shall not post materials that may be inaccurate, offensive, or otherwise considered inappropriate. Lurie Children's reserves the right to review, edit and/or delete any comments, postings or pictures it deems inappropriate as determined in Lurie Children's sole discretion. Comments including, but not limited, to the following may be deleted or edited by our staff:
- Abusive or hurtful comments about staff, patient families or other community members
- Promotion of events, groups, pages, websites, organizations and programs not related to or affiliated with the hospital
- Comments that use offensive language (including gender, racial or ethnic comments)
- Personal attacks or defamatory statements
- Comments that violate the privacy of our patients and their families
- Comments or pictures seeking specific medical advice
