Lurie Children’s prides itself on being a reliable source of information on your child’s diagnosis — and the Sarah and Peer Pedersen Family Learning Center (PFLC) is here to help with that mission.
Located on the 12th floor behind the red fire truck, the PFLC is a resource space where all patients and families can access educational resources, learn more about our services and read through consumer health materials.
Using this space to research and discover more information about any healthcare topic also gives you access to our knowledgeable staff’s guidance.
While at Lurie Children's, you may find that you need to print, scan, or fax paperwork -- this could be insurance forms, FMLA paperwork, or other important documents. If you need to do this, the PFLC has computers, printers, fax machines, and scanners to help you get these things crossed off your list.
You can also access our list of reliable health information websites from the computers at the center.
We also have printed resources that you can take with you to learn more about health conditions or organizations that may be related to your child's health. For example, we have information on:
- Car seats
- Cast care
- Food allergies
- EpiPens
- Mental health (anxiety, trauma, ADHD, etc.)

The PFLC offers educational opportunities for our patients and families to learn more about different areas of health and healthcare. We support classes or one-on-one meetings on the following topics:
- Asthma
- Food allergies - such as the Kids Food Allergy Hangout (dates TBA)
- G-Tube
- Injury prevention (seasonal)
- Legal advocacy
- Medicaid/benefits enrollment
