All patients and families have the right to have complete information regarding diagnosis, prognosis and treatment in a language you understand. We strive to provide our services in the languages of our patients and families.
Our Spanish language interpreting services are especially strong; we employ 16 full-time Spanish interpreters to meet your and your child’s needs.
We provide the following services to make sure your visit goes as smoothly as possible.
In-person Spanish language interpreting from 7 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week.
Up to 40 other in-person language interpreters, including Polish, Arabic, Chinese, Bosnian/Croatian, Russian, Serbian and Vietnamese
Phone-based interpretation at all times for more than 180 languages
Community and hospital resources about child development and support groups
In-person and video remote sign-language interpreters may be scheduled in advance, but can also be reached for emergency needs by contacting the manager of Interpreting Services, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., or the administrative coordinator during all other hours.

We also have a video remote interpreting system, provided by In-Demand Interpreting. The system allows us to connect at any time with interpreters that know the following languages:

You may encounter an interpreter during many points of your stay. Though it’s not guaranteed, we try to provide the same interpreter each time you request one, so that you’ll develop a comfort level and receive the same high-quality service and respect.
