Skylight TV

Skylight TV is the hospital’s own closed circuit, interactive television station.

We broadcast four live shows weekly to patients’ rooms on Channel 1. Our state-of-the-art production center and studio is located in the heart of the hospital, inside the Panda Cares Center of Hope (formerly the Family Life Center) on the 12th floor.

As we recognize that our patients and their families often need relief from the stressful experience of hospitalization, we design our shows to be a positive distraction. Our shows are produced with our patient families in mind, and we strive to provide a bit of fun and education during their stay here at Lurie Children’s.

Our Skylight TV Line-Up

Body Parts - a fun, interactive game show designed to make our audience laugh while they learn about anatomy through a matching game. Players can join us live in the studio or call in from their rooms to win a prize. Body Parts is hosted by local talent.

Hospital & Safety Bingo - originally created by Johns-Hopkins Medical Center, this bingo game show educates our audience about objects in the hospital with a splash of playful humor. Players can join us live in the studio or call in from their rooms to win a prize. Hospital & Safety Bingo is hosted by Lurie Children’s own Matt Massaro.

Storytime with Dot - features the storytelling and comic talents of our Host, Dot Kane. This show is a fun and interactive event where you never know what Dot might pull out of her bag of tricks. With a mixture of improv and green screen, we reach new heights in storytelling. Players can join us live in the studio or call in from their rooms to win a prize.

Morning Jam with Jim - a weekly musical sing-along show featuring the talents of hospital Chaplain Jim Manzardo along with many special musical guests.  Our audience live in the studio or calling in from their rooms is invited to sing songs, make special requests or even announce birthdays! In the Family Life Center, we recognize the important role that music plays in the healing process and hope that our viewers feel uplifted.

Bubble Bay - a fun and educational trivia game show developed in partnership with Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium invites participants to fill the aquariums on their game sheets to win a prize. This colorful show is hosted by our School Service Coordinators, Pat Ebervein & Scott Zagalak.

Special Event programming - Skylight TV also produces a variety of special events and shows featuring the talents and resources of Lurie Children’s Community Partners and other arts, cultural, educational and professional sports organizations.

Georama Live Tours - from Vienna’s Christkindlmarkt to the Adler Planetarium’s Solar Eclipse Fest, Skylight TV partners with Georama to bring live coverage of places and events worldwide!

We are proud to have Skylight TV as an integral part of our family-centered care mission. Audience members often play an interactive role in the actual production of each show.  Our productions reduce patient isolation and provide a healthy diversion from the stress often experienced with hospitalization.

Everyday Skylight TV aims to provide joy and a sense of community to our patients and their families.
