Response to Highland Park Tragedy
July 05, 2022
Yesterday, as families, friends and community came together to celebrate the 4th of July, they were instead impacted by another senseless act of violence. Highland Park is home to many of our patients and families, workforce, volunteers and supporters. We grieve with all those affected by this tragic event and are here to provide support as we attempt to heal from this trauma.
These repeated acts of violence not only cause physical harm but psychological and emotional tolls. We know that many in our community are grieving, processing the information and overwhelmed with emotions. The Center for Childhood Resilience (CCR) at Lurie Children’s will continue to provide timely, age-appropriate resources that we hope will be useful to you as you navigate the challenges of talking and processing with your children about what has happened. Our hearts are with all those affected by the mass shooting in Highland Park, and senseless violence everywhere.
