Cardiovascular-Thoracic Team Performs 300th Heart Transplant

Lurie Children's heart transplant team successfully performed the hospital's 300th heart transplant this past summer. The surgery was led by Joseph Forbess, MD, MBA, division head, Cardiovascular-Thoracic Surgery. 

The hospital's first heart transplant took place in 1988 and, throughout the past 30 years, Lurie Children's has performed more pediatric heart transplants than any other healthcare provider in Illinois.
