Abbott Issues Recall on Powdered Formulas

For our patients, families, and communities, we are sharing a safety alert regarding infant health from the federal Food and Drug Administration.
Abbott has issued a recall on Similac, Alimentum, and EleCare powdered formulas.
The affected formulas have a number starting with 22 through 37, contain K8, SH, or Z2 and have an expiration date of April 1, 2022 or later.
For help obtaining appropriate formula replacements contact your Home Health Company, WIC Office, primary care physician or dietitian.
Parents and caregivers who are concerned that their infants may have had contaminated formula should be on the lookout for symptoms such as: fever, poor feeding, vomiting, diarrhea, blood in stool, more fussiness or crying than usual, or lower energy than usual. Parents and caregivers who notice these symptoms should contact the child’s primary care provider.
