Lurie Children's & Rush:

Advancing Children's Health

Thank you for choosing Lurie Children’s & Rush for your child’s care. We are excited to announce that Rush University System for Health and Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago have formed a new clinical affiliation that will make it easier for patients and their families to access more high-quality pediatric specialty care. We will always prioritize the needs of the children and families we serve, and together, we look forward to advancing high-quality pediatric care and providing more comprehensive services to children.

To help you understand how this new clinical affiliation will affect you and your child’s care, we have some frequently asked questions below.

General Questions About the New Clinical Affiliation

Throughout the Chicago area, access to high-quality pediatric care is unevenly available, and certain communities are under-resourced and underserved. Lurie Children’s and Rush share a core belief that children everywhere should have the same chance to live a healthy life, regardless of where they live.

Yes.

Questions About Providers & Services

This new affiliation will maintain and enhance the excellent care and services you have always received. Your child will be able to continue seeing the same providers at the same convenient locations. You also will be able to schedule appointments in the same way. With this affiliation, a wider range of pediatric specialists will be available if your child needs more complex services.

Rush specialty pediatric services included in the new clinical affiliation:

  • Pediatric inpatient services (including pediatric intensive care unit services)
  • Neonatal intensive care services
  • Inpatient and outpatient heart center services
  • Inpatient and outpatient hematology and oncology services
  • Outpatient specialty pediatric services for gastroenterology, neurology, infectious disease, sleep medicine, pulmonology, endocrinology, genetics, nephrology, developmental and behavioral pediatrics, palliative care

If you see a provider at a Rush University Medical Center location for a service not listed above, there will be no change to your experience or your bill. You will receive one bill from Rush University Medical Center. Should your child require additional services or subspecialty referrals, you may still benefit from the increased access through the affiliation.

Yes. You will continue to receive care by providers at the same Rush locations.
