Meet the team


HIV/STI & Health Screenings

The division provides free & confidential HIV/STI screening* and safer sex counseling for anyone age 12-24. Our certified counselors offer these testing and counseling sessions in our offices and at community spaces/events. We also provide PrEP prescriptions for individuals up to 24 years of age!

*STI screening includes: HIV, Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, and Trichomoniasis.

ChiSTAR is a database of potential study participants for The Center for Gender, Sexuality, and HIV Prevention at Lurie Children’s Hospital. Areas of research include sexual health, gender, sexuality, fertility, HIV prevention, behavioral health, and health disparities in youth and young adults. This voluntary database is used to see if you may be eligible for new research studies in the Division. Based on your answers we will reach out to you about potential studies you may be eligible for.

This study is Lurie Children’s IRB 2019-2624, ChiSTAR, PI Amy Johnson. The content of this flier/brochure/e-mail/etc. has been approved by the Lurie Children’s IRB.

Adolescent Care

Learn more about the resources we have availble for our adolescents and young adults: 

  • Acne treatment
  • Evaluation of concerns related to puberty or development
  • Management of chronic health conditions
  • Contraception and family planning, parenting information
  • Management of menstrual disorders, including absence of menses, irregular menstruation, PCOS, heavy or prolonged menses, and painful menses
  • Routine gynecologic care, including PAP smears when appropriate
  • Assistance with transitioning to adult care
  • Sexually transmitted infection screening and treatment
  • Screening and supportive management for depression and other mental health issues

Groups for Transgender & Gender Non-Conforming (TGNC) Young People

Social Groups

We provide in-person groups for gender-expansive youth. Click here to register.

  • Pre-Teen Youth Group (ages 10-12):
    • In-person 3rd Saturday of every month from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Teen Youth Group (ages 13-18):
    • In-person 3rd Tuesday of every month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Connect4Youth (C4Y)

C4Y provides free, confidential HIV testing and drug/alcohol support resourceds for Black and Latinx youth ages 16-25, as well as onsite linkage support for follow-up services and care. To schedule testing appointments, call/text 312.487.2179
