NASCAR STREET CLOSURES

Due to the NASCAR Chicago Street Race on July 5 - 6, and related events, there will be rolling street closures and traffic congestion June 19 - July 7.

Before your appointment, check the NASCAR website for the latest street closures. Bus routes may be affected. For current CTA and Metra schedules, visit TransitChicago and Metra. Navigation apps like Waze and Google Maps will reflect real-time closures

Please allow extra travel time. All hospital parking garages will remain open, though alternate routes may be needed.

Occupational Therapy Capstone Experience

The Occupational Therapy Capstone Experience at Lurie Children’s offers a challenging and exciting opportunity to complete your pediatric capstone experience. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, a strong team player and have a strong desire for a career as a pediatric occupational therapist.

Completion of Level II Fieldwork rotation in a pediatric setting is required.

Overview and Goals of the Capstone Experience

  • The purpose of this capstone is to teach, mentor and train future pediatric occupational therapists
  • The capstone experience may take place at our Streeterville facility, Lincoln Park, Westchester, Northbrook, New Lenox, and/or Grayslake Outpatient Centers.
  • The student will need access to a vehicle to travel to the satellite locations.

Goals and Expectations for Capstone Experience 

  • The overarching goal for the student is to develop experience, confidence, and growth in their pediatric occupational therapy skills.
  • The expectation from Lurie Children’s Occupational Therapy staff is that the student will:
    • Arrive at the capstone experience on time, properly attired and motivated to learn.
    • Provide high quality service to all of our patients and families.
    • Have a high level of commitment to the capstone experience and to be willing to take an active role in making the most of this experience to maximize their learning potential.
    • Try their best in all situations and to admit when he or she may need additional guidance or support.
    • Be willing and motivated to listen to feedback and suggestions from their preceptors and to also be able to respond respectfully when a difference of opinion arises
  • In return, the student can expect to receive respect, constructive feedback, growth in their clinical and professional skills and an amazing clinical experience.
