Lurie Children’s Outpatient Centers and Immediate Care will be closed Friday, 1/23. Limited services will be available at the main hospital.

Outpatient appointments scheduled for 1/23 will be converted to telemedicine visits. Please log in to MyChart at your scheduled appointment time. If your visit isn’t appropriate for telemedicine, your care team will contact you to reschedule.

Normal operations will resume Saturday, 1/24. If your child is experiencing an emergency, please visit the nearest emergency room.

Music Therapy Internship

At Lurie Children's, we treat the whole child, practicing family-centered-care. As a music therapy intern, you are part of a team that plays an integral role in a child's healing process. You are directly supervised by board-certified music therapists through the hospital's Children's Services Department. Learn more about our music therapists

Academic Requirements

To be considered for the music therapy internship, you must have the following:

  • Completed all undergraduate, equivalency or graduate-level coursework from an accredited music therapy program
  • A letter from your academic director verifying your eligibility for the internship. For more information on approved academic programs, please visit the American Music Therapy Association 
  • Documented music therapy practicum experience

How to Apply

The application and all required documents for internships are due as follows:

  • September 2026 Internship
    • We will begin accepting applications on December 1, 2025
    • Application Deadline: January 30, 2026 

Please note, we ask that all interns complete the online version of our application for our September 2026 Internship, even if you previously downloaded the PDF version.

Contract

Lurie Children’s and the intern's school will sign a contract defining mutual rights and responsibilities. The contract will be sent upon acceptance to the internship program. The music therapy internship director will work with the intern's school to communicate progress as required. Acceptance is contingent upon an agreement between the school and Lurie Children’s.
