Holidays

Lurie Children's observes eight legal holidays:

  • New Year's Day (January 1)
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (third Monday in January)
  • Memorial Day (last Monday in May)
  • Juneteenth (June 19)
  • Independence Day (July 4)
  • Labor Day (first Monday in September)
  • Thanksgiving (fourth Thursday in November)
  • Christmas (December 25)

The department is closed on these days. Holidays do not count as part of our fellows' annual vacation allowance.

Child Care

Fellows are eligible to enroll their children in the Bernice E. Lavin Children's Care Center, which is located on the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine campus, approximately a five-minute walk from Lurie Children's.
