The 2025 Child Maltreatment Toolkit is a multidisciplinary, statewide project which emerged from the 2013 Child Abuse and Neglect Policy and Procedures Guidelines/Toolkit (originally developed by Illinois EMSC) to current evidence-based guidelines for emergency department teams in Illinois.

This educational endeavor aims to provide awareness of appropriate emergency medical guidelines and services for all children who are possible victims of maltreatment. These guidelines and recommendations in this toolkit may be modified in accordance with the medical judgement of the healthcare professional and do not constitute legal advice.
