Family & Child Health Innovations Program
Children Thrive When Families Thrive
Established in 2020, the Family & Child Health Innovations Program (FCHIP) understands that child health occurs within the context of the family. Therefore the central tenet of FCHIP is “Children Thrive when Families Thrive.” Housed at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, FCHIP is part of the Mary Ann & J. Milburn Smith Child Health Outcomes, Research and Evaluation Center.
Through cutting-edge original research, disseminating clinically relevant findings, and influencing family health policy, FCHIP is a leader at the intersection of evidence-based research and family health. Now in its third year, FCHIP continues to focus on the role of fathers in the health of children and families, while also monitoring the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on families.
Our goal is to advance children’s well-being through understanding the roles of parents in a wide variety of family contexts, and how to enhance parents’ contributions to children’s health and development. As a bridge connecting the clinical, academic, and general community, FCHIP serves as a trustworthy conveyor of useful and reliable information on children and family health.
Researchers and health professionals are invited to complete this form to request a time to meet with FCHIP experts on inclusion of fathers in research, clinical spaces, policy, or programs.
