The S.T.A.B.L.E Cardiac Program
The S.T.A.B.L.E. – Cardiac Module provides general guidelines for the assessment and stabilization of neonates with suspected congenital heart disease (CHD). The first portion of the course will focus on the thorough physical exam of a neonate with suspected CHD. The second portion of the course will review presenting features and initial stabilization of the neonate with CHD. This portion of the course will be organized by lesion. Lastly, this course will review the six S.T.A.B.L.E. assessment modules within the context of caring for a neonate with CHD.
Intended Audience
This course is intended for any neonatal or pediatric healthcare provider (physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, respiratory therapists) who must identify and care for neonates or infants with congenital heart disease.
Course Outcome
Following this course, learners will have increased competence and confidence in their ability to recognize common physical exam findings of neonates with congenital heart disease as well as pre-transport stabilization knowledge and skills.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the class the learner will:
- Describe the physical assessment and differential diagnosis of neonates with suspected congenital heart disease (CHD).
- Discuss the anatomic features, clinical presentation, and initial stabilization of neonates with CHD.
- Identify the modifications in the S.T.A.B.L.E. guidelines that are necessary when caring for neonates with CHD.

6.5 Nursing Credit Hours
Successful Completion Requirements to obtain 6.5 Nursing Contact Hours:
- Live, in-person
- In order to receive nursing continuing professional development contact hours, the learner must attend the entire activity and complete the course evaluation.

Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please review your other obligations, including your work schedule, prior to registering for a class to be sure you can attend the class in its entirety.
Participants must attend the full class, and no refunds are provided for partial attendance.

Note
Pre-registration is required. S.T.A.B.L.E. – Cardiac Student Manual will be available for use during the class and subsequently available for purchase directly from the S.T.A.B.L.E website. The program will include a complete review of material and plenty of question and answer time.
We will not be providing parking reimbursement or food.
