Back to the Basics: Echocardiographic Assessment of Common Congenital Heart Disease and Coronary Artery Imaging Workshop

An Educational Meeting Developed by Sonographers for Sonographers

Course Description

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago presents the Chicago Sonographer Update 2021: Echocardiographic Assessment of Common Congenital Heart Disease and Coronary Artery Imaging Workshop. This conference will focus on the assessment and diagnosis of common types of congenital heart defects in the pediatric population. The workshop was designed with the sonographer’s learning experience in mind. Lurie Children’s cardiologists and sonographers will lead the lectures. Live echo imaging will also give attendees an opportunity to improve their understanding of anatomy and scanning technique for assessing the pediatric imaging protocol and how to assess and properly image coronary arteries.

See our agenda for detailed information about our presenters and curriculum.

Course Objectives

Upon conclusion of this educational meeting attendees should have improved their ability to:

  • Review the anatomy and imaging of common congenital heart lesions
  • Demonstrate appropriate use of echocardiography to image coronary arteries
  • Demonstrate normal and abnormal coronary artery patterns visualized with congenital heart disease and Kawasaki disease
  • Apply the pediatric specific imaging views and techniques to day-to-day practices
  • Apply learned techniques to optimize and acquire echocardiographic images for accurate interpretation

Intended Audience

This course is designed for cardiac sonographers, fellows in training, pediatric cardiologists and sonography students embarking on a career in pediatric cardiac sonography. Participants should have a basic understanding of echocardiography.
