3D Echo Academy: Acquisition & Application of 3D Imaging in Congenital Heart Disease with Dissection Lab & Hands-on Scanning Workshop
Course Description
Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago presents the 3D Echo Academy 2023: Acquisition & Application of 3D Imaging in Congenital Heart Disease with Dissection Lab & Hands-on Scanning Workshop.
This three-day program, dissection lab, and hands-on imaging workshop will be held at Lurie Children’s Hospital, Chicago, Illinois. Live in-person registration will be limited to 50 attendees. An option for the lecture-only component will be available via livestream, Central Standard Time (CST). Please note, the dissection lab and hands-on workshop, which includes image acquisition and offline analysis, is only available with in-person registration. All registrants will have access to recorded lectures for one month after the event.
The conference will use the dissection lab and pathology reviews to give the learner an in-depth look at the heart and prepare them for “Thinking in 3D”. The educational focus will be correlating cardiac pathology specimens to 3D image acquisition, and appropriate structure demonstration according to published guidelines. The combination of the didactic lectures, cardiac pathology review, image acquisition, and instructor-led post processing creates a robust curriculum in three-dimensional echocardiography for the learner.
See our agenda for detailed information about presenters and curriculum.
Course Objectives
This course will provide physicians, fellows and sonographers with a comprehensive assessment of obtaining and analyzing 3-dimensional images, especially in patients with congenital heart disease. Upon conclusion of this educational meeting attendees should have improved their ability to:
- Explain the basic principles of 3D echocardiography
- Demonstrate 3D image acquisition, post-processing, and standard presentation of images
- Define the added value of 3D echocardiography in surgical and interventional planning and guidance.
- Discuss appropriate optimization and post-processing of 3D images for accurate interpretation and presentation
- Examine cardiac specimens to aid in 3D echocardiography correlations
- Apply the imaging techniques taught in the conference into day-to-day practices.
Target Audience
This course is designed for pediatric cardiologists, fellows in training, and cardiac sonographers. Participants should have a basic understanding of echocardiography.
