Education

Emergency care healthcare practitioners encounter critically ill and injured pediatric patients infrequently, which creates a challenge in maintaining pediatric knowledge and skills. All practitioners that care for children in the prehospital, emergency department, hospital and out-of-hospital settings need to maintain ongoing education and training to remain current in the emergency assessment and treatment of children of all ages. In addition, maintaining pediatric skills through competency demonstrations, simulations, and skill stations can assist in preventing skill atrophy.
