Children are at increased risk during disasters due to their unique physiologic, anatomic, developmental and cognitive attributes. We strongly encourage and advocate for the inclusion of pediatric considerations in disaster plans, exercises/trainings, response policies/ protocols, and recovery strategies to ensure their unique needs are met.

The below links provide access to a number of resources, tools, training and education for those who care for children in the health care and community settings before, during and after a disaster.

In addition, several pediatric disaster preparedness guidelines, tools, and other resources have been developed within our state.

NOTE:  Illinois EMSC pediatric preparedness resources can be accessed at PublicHealthLearning.
