About Me
Dr. Elizabeth Yerkes is a nationally recognized pediatric urologist specializing in the care of infants, children and adolescents with complex congenital and acquired urologic conditions. With more than 25 years of experience, she has expertise in reconstructive pediatric urology (including genitourinary tract reconstruction) , neurogenic bladder, disorders of sex development and pediatric urogynecology.
Dr. Yerkes is a Professor of Urology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and Interim Division Head of Pediatric Urology at Lurie Children’s. A respected leader in pediatric urology, she has served as President of both the Society for Pediatric Urology and the American Association of Pediatric Urologists and has held numerous national leadership, editorial and educational roles that have helped advance the field. Before joining Lurie Children's, she served as an active-duty pediatric urologist and Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Yerkes is dedicated to advancing pediatric urology through education and research. She served for more than a decade as Program Director of the Pediatric Urology Fellowship at Lurie Children's, mentoring future pediatric urologists, and has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters and invited reviews. Her research has focused on improving care for children with complex reconstructive and congenital urologic conditions.
Dr. Yerkes graduated summa cum laude from Bowdoin College before earning her medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, where she received the Founder's Medal, the institution's highest academic honor. She completed her residency in urology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and fellowship training in pediatric urology at Indiana University School of Medicine. She is board certified in both Urology and Pediatric Urology by the American Board of Urology.
