About Me
Taher Valika, MD is a pediatric otolaryngologist at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, where he serves as Medical Director of the Aerodigestive Program, one of the nation’s largest airway reconstruction programs. Recognized internationally for his expertise in complex airway surgeries, Dr. Valika is an innovator in advancing techniques for pediatric airway reconstruction and the management of airway and complex sleep apnea disorders.
His clinical interests include multilevel airway obstruction in children with obstructive sleep apnea, subglottic stenosis, dysphagia, including laryngeal clefts and cricopharyngeal dysfunction. He is deeply committed to a patient-centered approach, utilizing shared decision-making with families, patients, and multidisciplinary care teams to achieve the best outcomes. In addition to his clinical and research work, Dr. Valika is passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of physicians.
