​Susan Shumaker is an advanced practice nurse specializing in the treatment and care of children undergoing surgery for a variety of acute and chronic conditions. 

She provides and coordinates patient care to the inpatient surgical and trauma services.

She received her bachelors of science degree in Health and Sport Studies from Miami University in Ohio and a master’s of science in nursing degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. 

Susan is the current president-elect for the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners-Illinois Chapter. She is also a member of the American Pediatric Surgical Nurses Association (APSNA), and the APSNA Trauma Special Interest Group (SIG). At Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago Susan is also an active member of the Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Council Informatics Committee.
