About
Dr. Runde's clinical focus is in inflammatory bowel disease - Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, inflammatory bowel disease-unclassified, very-early onset inflammatory bowel disease and monogenic enteropathies.
Within the field of IBD, Dr. Runde is interested in application of dietary therapy, helping to improve access to biologic/advanced therapies for children and young adults, integrative strategies along side medical therapy and less invasive means of disease surveillance such as intestinal ultrasound - a tool we will soon be offering at Lurie.
Dr. Runde founded the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago's annual patient-family IBD symposium “Spring into Remission” which drives patient advocacy, scholarships, research, fundraising and educational opportunities within the IBD program.
