Bruce W. Lindgren, MD is an Attending Physician in the Division of Urology at Lurie Children's and the Director of Minimally Invasive Urological Surgery. He is also Professor of Urology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Lindgren grew up on a farm in Nebraska, and attended Doane College in Crete, Nebraska for his undergraduate training, where he graduated summa cum laude. He then entered Vanderbilt University School of Medicine where he completed his medical degree. During his medical school training he received a travel grant to study pediatrics at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. His residency training was completed at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois, which included two years of general surgery training followed by four years of urology residency training. He received first place in the Chicago Urological Society’s Charles B. Huggins M.D. Resident Essay Contest for Clinical Research for two consecutive years. He then completed his fellowship in pediatric urology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center/ Schneider Children’s Hospital (now Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York). He returned to the Chicago area as Assistant Professor of Urology and was on staff at Loyola University Medical Center for several years before leaving to form a new private practice. Dr. Lindgren was then recruited to join the Division of Urology at Children’s Memorial Hospital to lead their minimally invasive and laparoscopic/robotic surgery program. He is board certified in Urology, and received Subspecialty Certification in Pediatric Urology in 2008, the first year that subspecialty certification was available.

Dr. Lindgren is member of numerous societies including the Society for Pediatric Urology, Society of Fetal Urology, and the American Association of Pediatric Urologists. He has authored peer-reviewed papers, case reports, and book chapters, and currently serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Urology and the Journal of Pediatric Urology. His areas of special interest include laparoscopic and robotic (daVinci) surgery, hypospadias, undescended testes, hydronephrosis and urinary tract obstruction, and maternal-fetal urology.
Dr. Lindgren is active in clinical research in several areas of urology, primarily laparoscopic/robotic surgery.
